What is used cooking oil?

Hong Kong’s 20,000 plus eateries and food businesses generate an estimated 20,000 tonnes of UCO each year and about 175,000 tons of GTW.

Oils abandoned from any cooking process for human consumption, regardless whether they have been used for their original purposes, examples include:

  • Used cooking oil
  • Grease trap waste
  • Unused cooking oil
  • abandoned for reasons such as spoilage
  • Oil and grease separated from grease trap waste

ASB Chun Yip Used Cooking oil Collection Service

In order to develop a well-established waste cooking oil collection system, subsidiary ASB Chun Yip was set up in 2013, more than 50% waste oil in Hong Kong was collected. ASB Chun Yip obtained certification from HK EPD and ISCC, qualified with all Hong Kong and international governance requirements.
